About the department:-
The department was established in 2005 with the establishment of the College of Agriculture, and it is one of the important departments that the college was formed of at the time. The department aims to prepare specialized cadres in the fields of livestock and is interested in conducting agricultural scientific research. It has an important role in developing scientific plans that will preserve and advance livestock by improving animal production of all kinds. The department includes the animal field, which contains a large variety of farm animals of different ages. Practical lessons are given to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and research is conducted for faculty members and postgraduate students. The department also contributes to the scientific and administrative supervision of the branches of animal production in the field and to the training of students, which effectively contributes to the preparation of graduates in good preparation. Undergraduate students do practical training in the field while studying the semester materials as well as during the summer training to get acquainted with the various field operations that take place in the poultry halls and animal production sheds. The Department of Animal Wealth includes a group of faculty members in the fields of management and nutrition of animals, poultry and fish, animal physiology, genetics, breeding and improvement of animals, breeding and production of sheep and goats. Adopting programs that aim to serve and develop the community.
Tasks and objectives of the Department of Livestock Tasks
1 . Preparing agricultural engineers armed with science and knowledge and keeping abreast of the latest scientific developments in the field their specialty. 2 . Contribute to the development of the reality of livestock through the development and adoption of the latest scientific methods and means in the field of livestock. 3 . Laying the foundation stone for a conscious generation keeping pace with the origins and traditions of scientific research to be an essential tributary in the reconstruction of this province in particular and the country in general. 4 . Developing the reality of livestock in the governorate through coordination with the agricultural and veterinary departments there. 5 . Giving special importance to the breeding and improvement of camels, as the province is famous for breeding these animals. Seeking to study and develop fisheries by studying water bodies and the reality of fisheries in them. 6 . Interest in developing the reality of poultry farming (broilers and eggs) through cooperation with the agricultural and veterinary departments. 7. The department contributes through the consulting office in providing scientific advice and scientific, technical and veterinary supervision with regard to breeding and feeding all farm animals.
future goals 1 . Raising the reality and performance of the teaching staff in the department by attracting specialists and developing the efficiency of the current teaching staff. Accepting postgraduate students and providing their research requirements to contribute to the development of the reality and performance of the department. 2 . Raise performance and work level in the department’s laboratories and fields. Finding ways to bring in the different types of farm animals in the country so that students can know these types and ways to deal with them. 3 . Increasing the number of facilities and buildings of the department, especially with regard to small and large farm animals. 4. Establishing a small pilot food processing laboratory to benefit from field products in preliminary research and studies. 4 .
